141st Belmont Summer Bird wins

NEW YORK (AP) — Once again, there is no Triple Crown winner, either human or equine.

Summer Bird, with Kent Desormeaux (deh-SOR'-moh) enjoying what he called an "armchair ride," upset favored Mine That Bird to win the 141st Belmont Stakes. Mine That Bird briefly had the lead in deep stretch but faded to third. Dunkirk finished second, beaten by two and three-quarter lengths.

Mine That Bird's jockey, Calvin Borel (buh-REHL'), was denied in his quest to become the first jockey to book-end a Triple Crown with two wins on one horse while capturing the middle jewel on a different mount
